The Effect of Job Stress on Job Satisfaction of Public Social Workers: Focused on the Moderating Effects of Social Capital

Abstract
This study was conducted targeting 194 public social workers in A area to identify the influences that their recognized job stresses affect their job satisfactions and to verify the moderating effect of social capital in the procedures. PASW 18.0 was used to analyze the data. Results of this study are as follows: First, job stress level of public social workers showed 3.48 (SD=.505) which is higher than normal levels and the levels of job satisfaction and social capital were 2.82 (SD=.450) and 2.83 (SD=.502) respectively which are slightly lower than normal level. Second, study results after conducting four-step hierarchical regression analysis to identify the factors which affect to job satisfactions of public social workers showed that working period (¥â=-.168, p<.05), health status (¥â=.213, p<.01), job stress (¥â=-.190, p<.01) and trust (¥â=.232, p<.01)?network (¥â=.146, p<.05) of social capital were influencing. Study results showed interaction effects of job stress and trust (¥â=.178, p<.05)?network (¥â=.212, p<.01) of social capital are statistically significant and social capital have moderating effect in the relationships between job stress and satisfaction. Based on the results of these studies, several alternatives were suggested in order to improve the job satisfactions of public social workers.
